Barb Schilf is busier than usual this week.

The owner of Mohair Pear, at 2209 College Street in Cedar Falls, is finalizing the schedule for the Pear Fair, an annual open-air indie and design event.

Now in its 14th year, the festive happening, will take place at the intersection of 22nd and College streets from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Fairgoers will enjoy the craftsmanship and artistic work of about 45 vendors, from Iowa and the neighboring states, Barb told me. Their work will be displayed under two big tents.

There will be new and returning vendors whose crafts range from ceramics to jewelry to stained glass and crocheted items. There will also be new and used vinyl records for sale.

DJ Pals will be entertaining everyone with the vinyl sound track and the La Calle truck will be on site with delicious Latin-American fare.

Saturday’s event is expected to be the biggest Pear Fair so far.

“We keep going,” Barb said.
