The City of Cedar Falls and the University of Northern Iowa have announced Wednesday, July 2, 2025, as the rain date for Fireworks Over the Dome.

“True to a Sturgis Falls weekend, Mother Nature wanted to keep things interesting last night!” said Cedar Falls Mayor Danny Laudick. “Based on the weather forecast and when the pyrotechnic team is available, we’ve decided to reschedule the show for Wednesday, July 2, next week.”

“This will be just in time to celebrate Independence Day but not overlap with other community fireworks shows, and hopefully with a gorgeous night for everyone to come out and enjoy the show.”

This free community fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:40 p.m. at the intermural fields westof the UNI Dome (2501 Hudson Road in Cedar Falls). The public can get full information on the event and view the area map at www.cedarfallstourism.org/fireworks2025.

The show will be broadcast live on K92.3 with a new soundtrack to play with the show. New this year will be on-site concessions for sale courtesy of UNI Athletics.

Fireworks Over the Dome is sponsored by the University of Northern Iowa, Veridian Credit Union, Mudd Advertising, Martin Brothers, Hy-Vee, Viking Pump, and Dan Deery Motor Company.
