Larry and Sue Pump, both proud UNI alumni, have added their support behind the historic renovation of the UNI-Dome. The couple’s $100,000 contribution reflects their commitment to creating a legacy that will benefit future students, student-athletes and the community.
For the Rockford, Iowa couple, both 1979 graduates with degrees in accounting, the gift holds special meaning. The UNI-Dome played a significant role in the Pumps’ decision to attend UNI, beginning with their experience at the first-ever event held in the stadium: a wrestling match between UNI and the University of Iowa.
“These facilities were in place for us and our generation benefited. It is our turn to ensure these facilities are in place for future generations,” said Larry and Sue.
The Pumps’ gift comes as work has begun on phase two of the modernization project, which is designed to elevate the fan experience inside the stadium. The project will bring new suites, upgraded restrooms and comprehensive UNI-Dome reseating designed to enhance accessibility and comfort, while incorporating the iconic Panther purple throughout the stadium.
“The generous gift from Larry and Sue Pump for phase two of the Dome modernization project is especially meaningful, as this phase updates the very stadium where the UNI-Dome magic first sparked for them,” said UNI Director of Athletics Megan Franklin. “Thanks to the Pumps’ investment, countless fans will create their own UNI-Dome memories for years to come. Larry and Sue, we are grateful for your leadership and lasting impact through your giving legacy.”
This recent gift continues the Pump family’s enduring support for UNI, which includes the accounting program in the Wilson College of Business and the Panther Scholarship Club, in addition to other athletics initiatives. In honor of their support, the Pump family will be recognized with a naming opportunity in the UNI-Dome.
New seating is set to be ready for the 2025 football season with full phase two work completed by fall of 2026 to coincide with the UNI-Dome’s 50th anniversary. The university aims to raise the remaining funds for the $16 million project by June.
Gifts to the UNI-Dome project and the Our Tomorrow campaign are tax-deductible through the UNI Foundation. Contributions can be made outright or as multi-year pledges.
