Utility work is expected to start March 24 on Clay Street between West Eighth and West Ninth streets. A private contractor will begin underground utility work and road repair and is expected to last approximately two weeks, depending on weather.

In a press release, the city said that the area closure is needed so that the sanitary sewer and the watermain on the west side of the road could be accessed.

Detour for traffic will be along West Eighth, West Ninth, Washington and Franklin streets.
