Feb. 15 was a great day for the UNI Pickleball Club.

Despite the snowstorm, 20 teams competed in the first-every Heartbreaker Tournament and raised over $1,000.

The winners of the tournament were:

1st Place – Shake n’ Bake: Jeremy Blair and Sander Tompkins
2nd Place – Dinks for Doug: Tara Sagers and Steve Bernard
3rd Place – Bender Boys: Roan Martineau and Brevin Hawkinson
4th Place – B & E: Brandon Adams and Eric Adams

We also want to acknowledge the support of so many in the Cedar Valley that helped us put this together. First, and foremost, we want to thank Tara at the Black Hawk Tennis Club. If you haven’t yet, make sure to go to open play there. It’s a great facility and the only indoor tennis-surfaced courts in the Cedar Valley–perfect to practice on while the weather is cold so you don’t lose your edge for summertime!

Also, our club would like to acknowledge the following organizations who donated swag, promoted the tournament, or otherwise supported us:

  • Pickleplay (download the app!)
  • Cedar Falls Pickleball Club (so much support!)
  • Chad’s Pizza (eat their food!)
  • The OP (yeah, eat their food too!)
  • Wal-Mart (shop there)
  • Gamma Pickleball (buy pickleball merch!)

Thank you all again for your support! Our next tournament is in Des Moines on Feb.22

Stay tuned for more UNI Pickleball Club action!
