CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) announced its weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon and UNI softball outfielder Katy Olive was named the Valley’s Newcomer of the Week.
The first weekly award of her UNI career, Katy Olive appeared in all four games over the weekend for the Panthers making three starts at the Furman Classic. The junior outfielder finished with a .444 batting average with four hits and five runs on nine at-bats. Olive racked up two RBIs across her four games and was 2-for-3 (.667) with runners in scoring position.
Olive comes to UNI from the North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) where she was a three-time Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Division II player of the week her sophomore season with the Trojans. The outfielder was The ICCAC Division II player of the season after the 2024 season and was an NFCA NJCAA Division II first-team all-American, 2024 NFCA NJCAA Division II TUCCI/NFCA Player of the Year, the 2024 New Balance/NFCA NJCAA Division II Golden Shoe award winner, and a NJCAA Division II first-team all-American.
