The City of Cedar Falls is proud to announce that the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has named it a recipient of the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR)!
This award is in recognition of the City’s Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024. The goal of the report is to increase public transparency. It invites citizens to learn more about the City’s current financial position and outlook by breaking down the City’s complex financial report into a reader-friendly and visually appealing 12-page document. In the document, the community can learn more about the City’s finances, including revenues, expenditures, information on debt, and capital improvement projects.
When judging the report, the GFOA attributed reader appeal and understandability as areas of excellence, stating, “It is great to read about some of the projects being worked on that help improve the City, but also improve the quality of life of its residents.”
The Popular Annual Financial Report, as well as the complete comprehensive financial report, can be viewed at bit.ly/CFFY2024.
“It is important to make materials that are user-friendly, especially when it comes to finance, so that our community can learn more about their city, its future, and how funds are being spent,” said City Communications Specialist Amanda Huisman. “The annual comprehensive financial report has a lot of good information, but at almost 200 pages long, it is difficult for citizens to understand easily.”
“Thank you to our City’s Finance and Operations team for their commitment to going the extra mile by creating a community document that increases citizen engagement, transparency, and further strengthens our City and public partnership.”
