Cedar Falls residents have the opportunity to impact the future of the city by sharing their ideas of what they want to see in town in the next 20 years.

The roadmap for the future is being charted today in a plan in the making called Charting Tomorrow, also known as the strategic plan for the town’s development. It seeks to “identify projects, goals, partnership, and opportunities” for growth and development, according to a press release by the city.
Mayor Danny Laudick, in a video posted on social media, invited the residents to contribute to the strategic plan.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us to come together as a community and shape the vision for Cedar Falls, he says in the video. “We are committed to creating a roadmap that reflects your voice, sets clear goals and holds us accountable for delivering real results.
The survey is anonymous and ends on Feb. 23.
Depending on your engagement, the survey may take 10 to 20 minutes to complete. It asks such questions as what makes the town a great place to live, about opportunities for improvement the city should focus on, among others.

According to a timeline posted on the city’s website, six steps are outlined in the process of creating the plan. In January and February, the first two phases, namely, online input by residents and feedback by city employees’ input are planned. In phase 3, there will be a community-based focus group in February. Next, in phase 4, the council will hold a visioning framework session in March. In phase 5, also in March, the community will be able to give input on priorities. In phase 6, slated for March-April, the strategic plan will be finalized and adopted.
