CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI Athletics is proud to honor four outstanding student-athletes with Athlete of the Month awards for February 2025. The award recipients, voted on by members of UNI’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for their achievements in the month of January, include Tytan Anderson (men’s basketball), Parker Keckeisen (wrestling), Maya McDermott and Morgan Meyer (swimming & diving)
TYTAN ANDERSON
A Eldridge, Iowa native, Anderson averaged 16.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game to help the Panther men’s basketball team post a 5-4 record during the month of January. Anderson notably scored the game-winning layup at the final buzzer on Jan. 11 at Illinois State, lifting UNI to an 85-84 road win.
PARKER KECKEISEN
A redshirt senior out of Glendale, Wisconsin, Keckeisen dominated his competition during the month of January, posting a perfect 10-0 record to maintain his second in the nation ranking. The reigning NCAA champion at 184 pounds won all ten of his matches in bonus points with two pins, five technical falls and three major decisions.
MAYA MCDERMOTT
A Johnston, Iowa product, McDemott tallied an average of 16 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists last month as the UNI women’s basketball team posted a 4-4 record. McDermott, a 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award midseason watch list player, recorded three games with 20 or more points, including 21 points each at Southern Illinois and Bradley.
MORGAN MEYER
A junior from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Meyer racked up seven first-place finishes in January in UNI’s road dual at Iowa State and in the Panthers’ home finale against Illinois State. Meyer swept the individual 100 and 200-yard freestyle events at both meets, along with the 200-yard freestyle relay, plus the 400-yard freestyle relay against the Redbirds.
